Education

Frank Paynter earned his BSEE in 1972 from Georgia Institute of Technology, his MScEE in 1995 and the Ph.D. in 2000, both graduate degrees from OSU. After a 25 year career as a communications engineer and project manager for the government, he began working at ESL in 1993, first as a student, but has had a full time appointment since 1996. Frank was the ESL network administrator until 2001 and has been a Senior Research Associate since then.

Research Interests

Dr. Paynter’s research interests include developing GUIs for computational EM, with particular interest in integrating ESL codes into a unified EM design and analysis workbench. He is currently also managing a project to develop and implement a state-of-the-art compact range radar system for MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory.
