ESL Students Take the 1st and 2nd Places at USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting

Congratulations to Ushe Chipengo and Ersin Yetisir, who won the 1st and 2nd places for the best student paper competition at the USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting held in Boulder Colorado from Jan 6 to Jan 8, 2016.

Their papers were:

  • Experimental Validation of Mode Dominance Reversal in Novel Slow Wave Structures for High Power Backward Wave Oscillators, by Ushemadzoro Chipengo and John L. Volakis.
  • A Novel Array with 6:1 Bandwidth and 70o  Scanning using Frequency Selective Surface Superstrate, by Ersin Yetisir, Nima Ghalichechian and John L. Volakis.

In December 2015 Ersin succesfully defended his Ph.D. thesis, titled "Novel Implementations of Wideband Tightly Coupled Dipole Arrays for Wide-angle Scanning".
