Fernando Teixeira, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, received a 2010 Outstanding Young Engineer Award from the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society.

This award recognizes outstanding, young MTT-S members under the age of 39 at the time of the nomination, who have distinguished themselves through technical achievements, exemplary service to the MTT-S, or a combination of both. Prof. Teixeira was recognized for his outstanding contributions to numerical methods and CAD techniques for RF and microwave applications.

“Undoubtedly, Dr. Teixeira is one of the most active young researchers/educators in our field, and is most deserving of this award,” nominator John Volakis, director of the ElectroScience Laboratory and professor of electrical and computer engineering, said. “He is already an established leader on numerical methods and CAD techniques for RF and microwave applications, and his work on time domain techniques has attracted much attention from the technical and scientific community.”

Prof. Teixeira joined the faculty of the ElectroScience Laboratory and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2000. He has received a number of awards for his research including the NSF CAREER Award in 2004 and the triennial USNC/URSI Booker Fellowship in 2005. Prof. Teixeira is currently an associate editor for the IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, and a past chair of the Joint IEEE MTT/AP-S Columbus Chapter.

The IEEE MTT Society is a transnational society with more than 11,000 members and 120 chapters worldwide. It promotes the advancement of microwave theory and its applications, including RF, microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz technologies.
