Samantha Yoder receives SMART fellowship

Samantha Yoder, a PhD student in electrical and computer engineering, has received a prestigious four-year Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Fellowship. The SMART program aims to increase the number of scientists and engineers in the Department of Defense.

Yoder is a graduate research associate at the ElectroScience Laboratory where she conducts research in RF and mixed signal circuits. Prof. Waleed Khalil is her advisor. A two-time alumna of The Ohio State University, she received her master’s (2010) and bachelor’s (2008, magna cum laude) degrees in electrical engineering. Yoder is also the recipient of the DAGSI Fellowship in 2010.

The Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Program offers fellowships to students who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude for excelling in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Students are also provided opportunities to continue their research in civil service roles following graduation.
