NASA’s New Horizon probe released its first photos of Pluto after nine years of traveling to explore and get a closer look at the other edges of our planetary system.

The initial picture released on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 shows a couple of orange-tinged blobs: Pluto and its largest moon, Charon. (see photo below).

The New Horizon’s communication and imaging systems were measured and characterized at OSU-ESL’s anechoic chamber in 2006/2007 before their final integration into the spacecraft. ESL alumni were involved in the design of the related antenna and imaging systems.
