College of Engineering Honors Sherry Vogt with Outstanding Service Award
Sherry A. Vogt, a 9-year veteran of the ElectroScience Laboratory's admin team, received the Outstanding Service Award from the College of Engineering (CoE) as part the College's Above and Beyond Staff Awards Program for year 2016. The award was presented at the CoE’s Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, held at the Ohio Union. Sherry has played a crucial role at the ESL as its Fiscal Administrator since 2007 and been supporting more than 30 researchers, faculty and postdocs (along with +90 graduate students) with their sponsored research program administration during pre- and post-award stages, overseeing fiscal health of ESL funds and programs. She has been advising ESL researchers on the university and federal policies governing research programs and financial responsibilities, managing ESL’s purchasing and procurement requests, and monitoring all monetary transactions. She spends countless hours, often times beyond her normal business hours, on any given week, to support ESL’s faculty and researchers, preparing financial reports, formulating budgets and coordinating activities with the Office of Sponsored Programs, making sure the proposals are submitted on time. In FY2015 she coordinated and involved in the preparation and submission of over 100 research proposals, 44 of which came back with successful award notifications. She has performed these duties in addition to her normal workload and has demonstrated a high level of customer service. Over the years Sherry has become an asset to ESL and an indispensable to its functioning. We congratulate Sherry for her well-deserved recognition of her hard work at ESL and her contributions to the CoE overall.
The intent of the Above and Beyond Awards is to provide a mechanism for employees to be recognized for outstanding performance in support of the college’s mission and university core values as they go above and beyond in carrying out their duties. Exemplary Service Award provides recognition for superior service and/or significant contributions to the College of Engineering.
