Recent ESL Grads Win Top Two Paper Awards At URSI

Shubhendu Bhardwaj (L) and Satheesh Bojja Venkatakrishnan (R) received the 1st and 2nd place.
Former ESL students, Shubhendu Bhardwaj (Ph.D., 2017) and Satheesh Bojja Venkatakrishnan (Ph.D., 2017) were named the top two recipients of the best paper awards at the URSI General Assembly, held in Montreal, Canada on August 19-26, 2017. During a banquet held on August 23rd, URSI General Assembly announced that Shubhendu and Satheesh received the 1st and 2nd prize of the best paper awards. Ten students were announced as finalist to compete for the top prizes at the special session for the student paper competition. Their papers were as follows:

 1st prize: “Novel Circularly-Polarized Antenna and Phase-less Characterization Method for sub-mm-wave and Terahertz Communication and Sensing,” by S. Bhardwaj, N.K. Nahar and J.L. Volakis.

 2nd prize: Multi-band Multi-beam Performance Evaluation of On-Site Coding Digital Beamformer using Ultra-Wideband Antenna Array,” by S. Bojja Venkatakrishnan, E. Alwan and J.L. Volakis.
