On September 17, ESL Graduate Research Associate Ryan Patton won second place in the rapid-fire presentation competition that took place during the Optical Society's (OSA) Polarization Technical Group networking event. The event was held during the Frontiers in Optics conference.

Each presentation could include a maximum of one slide only to provide an overview of the basic idea behind the research and its impact. Attendees visited each poster and cast their vote to help determine Patton as the winner to receive a $250 prize. Patton, a PhD student in the Ohio State Electrical and Computer Engineering program, is advised by Professor Ronald M. Reano.

The OSA Polarization Technical Group networking event highlighted the research being done in this topic area by students and early career professionals.
