Ohio State’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering recently recognized a pair of professors representing the ElectroScience Laboratory: Nima Ghalichechian and Asimina Kiourti. Each received one of the department’s Outstanding Teaching Awards for the Autumn 2019 semester.

Ghalichechian and Kiourti were two of five faculty members highlighted for teaching excellence. The recognition was bestowed based on student input.

ECE Department Chair Hesham El Gamal shared that the recipients stood out during the Autumn 2019 semester for their “rigorous methods, mastery of teaching skills, and inspiring passion for creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for our students.”

Considerations for the award included evaluations, comments, engagement, and class size. The professors chosen scored higher than 4.8/5 (SEI), with more than 20 students participating in the selection survey.
