About

 

Ronald M. Reano earned the BS in Physics from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1991, the BSEE from the University of New Mexico in 1996, and the MS and PhD from the University of Michigan in 2000 and 2004, respectively. He is a senior member of the Optical Society (OSA) and a senior member of the IEEE.

Professor Reano's research interests involve integrated photonics, electro-optics, and hybrid RF/optical devices. Integrated photonics involves the manipulation of light at the micrometer and nanometer scales. It is analogous to integrated electronics. Instead of electrons, however, photons are guided and controlled on the surface of an optical chip. The use of light provides a route to miniaturized high speed devices enabling revolutionary innovation in sensors, communications systems, and computing. Research investigations span concept development, design, modeling, simulation, fabrication, test, and measurement
